Works that are abstract have subject matter that the artist has distorted in a way that may make it difficult to determine what that subject matter is. In these cases the title is often a good place to look for information as to what that subject matter is. The title of this work is Abstract Landscape. Abstract is not just restricted to painting. Sculptures can also be abstract. This work by Henry Moore is called Three Piece Sculpture Vertebrae. Do you see the bone-like shapes of the vertebrae?
If the subject matter is recognizable without the title then it is semi-abstract. If even the title does not suggest a subject, then it is probably nonobjective.
