glossary

Ephemeral art is art that is intended by the artist to last for a definite amount of time and then be dismantled, destroyed, harvested or allowed to disintegrate on its own. In some cases the ephemeral nature of the art is inherent, such as an ice sculpture. In others it is the artist's intent for it to have a life that because it ends says something about that work, such as the work of Christo and his wife Jeanne-Claude.
