Fine arts refers to works that primarily appeal to the aesthetic sense of the participant. These include literature, music, painting, theater, and film. These are works that do not traditionally have a functional aspect to them. Of course, there is music that has been written for specific occasions, but this is not the practical functional aspect that is consistent with architecture, ceramics, furniture, glass works, etcetera.
