Homophony (same voice) refers to a texture that has a melody with harmonic support. The support can be a simple accompaniment. Imagine sitting around a campfire with someone singing while another is playing an accompaniment on the guitar. If it is in strict homophony then all the sounds heard will be performing the same rhythm together. The important aspect of homophony is that there is harmony, but that harmony does not pull attention away from the melody. Imagine sitting around a campfire with everyone singing in harmony (different notes) all at the same time.
