Metalpoint is a drawing medium that uses a soft metal like silver in a holder that is applied to a surface typically covered with a gesso. As it is pressed to the surface traces of the metal is left on the surface. The result is a work that is comprised of lines that are similar in width. To get more expressive effects lines are placed closer together or hatched.
