Organic can refer to shapes or the lines from which those shapes are made. Organic refers to less precise lines and shapes more closely associated with nature. These are more often found in paintings such as this work by Thomas Cole, and less so in architecture. In some cases, the use of more organic lines and shapes contributes to making a structure look less predictable, as in this one by Frank Gehry.
