A pediment is comprised of a cornice and two raking cornices. One architectural structure that utilizes a pediment is a temple front. Another prominent location is just above a window - note that pediments while often triangular can also be rounded. When a portion of the pediment is intentionally left incomplete it is called a broken pediment.
