Classicism is a general style that is found in more formalized works of art. The opposite of Classicism is Romanticism.
Although some periods within the history of art are dominated by Classicism, Classic ideals can be found in every work of art to some extent. But, usually, either Classicism or Romanticism is dominant within any given work. Classicism has the following characteristics:
