Horizontal refers to an orientation that is wider as opposed to taller. In some cases this can refer to a line within a work such as the line of the horizon in this work by Fitz Lane. In others horizontal can refer to the orientation of the entire work, as in this sculpture by Henry Moore.

. A film term that has a relationship to vertical line is that of the pan shot which moves side to side in an implied horizontal line.
