glossary

Movement in the arts is experienced in one of two ways. Actual movement occurs in theater productions, film, and in some kinetic works. In theater, movement can refer to blocking or choreography. In film, movement can be seen in objects moving, camera moveemnt, and lens movement. The first refers to things that move within the film - trains, people, horses, etcetera. The second refers to various shots that involve movement. The third is the manipulation of what the lens captures through zoom, rack focus, or other specialized lens techniques.
Implied movement is either communicated through rhythm or the diagonal line.
