Objectivity refers to appreciation that is based on fact. Typically, the first reaction a participant has when first looking at a work of art is a subjective one. However, in order to discuss the merits of a work of art it is important to use appropriate terminology in an effective manner to discuss how the work communicates the content. The more factual this application of terminology is, the more objective and reliable will be the critique.
